Who is OwlCroft Aquaria?

Owlcroft Aquaria grew out of a love for freshwater aquariums and the amazing beauty of keeping a slice of nature in our home. We currently maintain around 20 aquariums, including community tanks, species-specific tanks, and a 120-gallon livebearer breeding program.

Our goal is to make the fish hobby accessible and enjoyable for a wide segment of the population in the hopes that you'll fine the same enjoyment be do.

RJ Rautio, BS, ABCAMP

RJ is our founding Aquarist and Director of Client Services. RJ has been involved in animal care for 20 years and recently completed the 870 hour Animal Behavior College Aquarium Maintenance Professional certification course of study. This comprehensive course covers Aquarium Maintenance Basics, Aquarium Set-Up Basics, Advanced Freshwater Aquariums, Advanced Salt Water Aquariums, Pond Basics, Species Guiding and Sourcing, Equipment, Maintenance, Commercial Aquariums, and Business Management. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business. His passion is high-tech freshwater and planted aquaria, and his love for all things aquatic is the driving force behind OwlCroft Aquaria.

Ian Beck

Ian is our co-founder and Director of Livestock and runs our in-house breeding programs, supplying quality fish to several local fish stores and select dedicated hobbyists. He has over 20 years of cross-species animal husbandry experience and strives to produce vigor, good health, and beauty in all OwlCroft livestock lines. Ian's passion for animal care extends to all aspects of his life, and his enjoyment of seeing living things thrive is the bedrock of the OwlCroft Aquaria livestock program.
